New Patients
At Hometown Dental of Newton, your first appointment includes a thorough exam and gathering any information that our dentist must be aware of in order to provide care specifically to your oral health. We understand that all patients are different and require individualized care. Learn more below:
Dr. Parsons and our team are very excited to meet you! Prior to your visit, we recommend filling out your new patient documents online to shorten your check- in time. These forms are available when scheduling online! Alternatively, our team will guide you on how to complete them on your personal computer or mobile device. If using dental insurance, your insurance plan and benefits will be verified before your appointment. We are unable to schedule an appointment with incomplete or incorrect insurance information.
We understand that all patients are different and require individualized care and we believe our diagnostic process is unrivaled. Your initial appointment will include a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. First, a friendly staff member will take digital x-rays and intraoral pictures as prescribed by Dr. Parsons. Next, a no-cost 3D wellness scan of your teeth will be completed to aid in our diagnosis and monitoring of your oral health over time. Then, a periodontal (gum) exam and oral cancer screening will be completed as part of our examination. Dr. Parsons and the team will review the findings with you. He will then diagnose the appropriate dental cleaning and any other treatment recommendations. If time allows, we will perform your dental cleaning the same day.
Occasionally, dental treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.
*A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the New Patient appointment.
During your initial visit Dr. Parsons and our team truly want to understand your dental story. Many people avoid the dentist for a variety of reasons. We want to know those and take the time to understand how we can help!
We do our best to accommodate our patients. We hope you respect our time as we respect yours. When an appointment is scheduled, you are trusting for us to be there for you and take care of your dental needs. In exchange, we trust for you to show up on time to your appointment.
Please take the time to read our appointment policy:
- Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. Changes to the appointment affect our dental team and other patients. If you are running late, please call our office to let us know. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we reserve the right to reschedule as a courtesy to other scheduled patients.
- Please notify us by phone at least 48 hours before your appointment time to cancel or reschedule in order to avoid being a “no-show.” Patients who cancel their appointment same-day will be classified as a “no-show.”
- We send multiple appointment reminders before your appointment time, so please give us an advanced notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
- Please be aware repeated missed appointments/”no-shows” will result in dismissal from our practice. Missed appointments and other broken appointments directly impact other patients who would like to be seen by our team.
- 50% of your estimated co-pay is required to reserve any dental treatment appointment beyond 60 minutes in duration.
- Payment for dental care completed is due on the day of treatment (unless otherwise arranged with our team in advance).
We are able to process with many insurance plans. Prior to your first visit, our team will collect your insurance information and verify your benefits with our office. If you are able to see the doctor of your choice, you likely have benefits in our office. Dr. Parsons and our team will plan our future appointments in a way that will take advantage of your insurance benefits.
Our team will file your claims and only collect from you what your carrier estimates your co-pays (out-of-pocket) will be. If your carrier pays a bit more than expected, we will let you know right away! If they limit your benefits at all, we’ll send you a statement for any balances remaining.
Effective July 2024, Hometown Dental of Newton is processing with the following insurance carriers:
- BCBS WELLMARK
- Delta Dental/Delta Dental Premier
- United Concordia
- United Healthcare (DOD/Military)
- Sunlife/DHA
- Humana
- AETNA PPO/PDN PPOII
Please note that your dental insurance plan is a contract between you and your insurance company. We have no say in how much or how little your insurance decides to pay. We have noticed that many insurance companies are not paying for the initial comprehensive exam and xrays at 100%. An increasing number of our patients now have a small co-pay. We are required to collect all co-pays and deductibles as part of our contract with the insurance company. If you do have a co-pay, we will let you know. If you have questions about a co-pay, we recommend calling your insurance to find out more information.
Please remember you are fully responsible for all fees charged by this office regardless of your insurance coverage.
